Venezuela and North Korea: 50 Years of Friendship and Cooperation

Since their establishment in the 1970s, Venezuela and North Korea have worked together in various areas, strengthening their commercial and cultural ties. Both countries are members of the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter, reflecting their alignment on international issues.

The 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and North Korea was celebrated with a special ceremony in Caracas. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil, along with North Korean Chargé d’Affaires Han Song Guk, led the commemorative events that highlighted the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

In a message shared on social media, Gil emphasized the importance of this historic milestone: “We celebrate half a century of respect and collaboration between our peoples. This anniversary is not only a symbol of our diplomatic relations but also a commitment to the future.” During the event, a commemorative cake was presented, visually representing this significant occasion.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, located on the Korean Peninsula and bordering China and Russia, has maintained a close relationship with Venezuela over the years.

The celebration of the anniversary not only reaffirms their mutual commitment but also opens new opportunities for deeper cultural exchange between the two nations.
